Opening to the Mystery: Presence in Caregiving at the End of Life
(21 CEU's)

I have created this class expressly to support massage therapists, caregivers, volunteers and health professionals who want
to feel more at ease and of greater service to people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. . .  and particularly
to those who are facing the end of their lives.

The class is a combination of scientific and factual information about the physiology of dying, interpersonal exercises to
cultivate listening and presence, self-exploration to better understand our own relationship to mortality and a variety of
work that will combine all of these. This class will focus on what we can do (and be, for that matter) with our hearts and
minds and souls that can make our work and our presence infinitely more valuable and connected as we serve the dying.

6-Day Oncology/Hospital Massage Intensive
(48 CEU's)

Oncology massage is a uniquely supportive speciality within the massage field.  Most, if not all, oncology massage
instructors will encourage you to take as many oncology massage classes from as many different instructors as you can.
Each of us brings a unique perspective and clinical experience to our classes so that no two classes are alike.

This 3-day introduction to oncology massage is a condensed, bare-bones essentials version of the 6-day class.  It
will provide students with the basic skills they need to start making smart, safe decisions when working with people who
have been affected by cancer treatment.

    2011 Courses
Thank you for your interest in training with me.  I will have a full teaching schedule in 2011.  I am excited
to offer the following
courses this year:
Greetings!

My name is Lauren Muser Cates.  I am honored to be one of a small but growing group of passionate massage
therapist educators who
have chosen to focus on strengthening and growing the ranks of the Oncology Massage
community through inspirational, clinically accurate, technically skilled and compassionate training.

The challenges faced by each person living with cancer are unique to that person on every level.  It is my hope
that, through my training courses, massage therapists and other oncology and end of life professionals will gain
not only the clinical knowledge necessary to be of specific service to this population, but also to cultivate and
awaken in themselves a spirit of  true
compassion and openness to
themselves, to their clients and to the mystery of what disease and
wellness can reveal.

Come with me and let's see what there is to discover!

The material in
this course will empower massage therapists with the information
they need
